Today’s Veterans

True to its history and mission, UNC Charlotte — ranked by Military Times as “Best for Vets” — continues to embrace the vision of founder Bonnie Cone to provide opportunity to traditional and nontraditional students of all backgrounds. This is especially true for veterans as they pursue their education and career goals.

The UNC Charlotte Veterans Services Office is dedicated to the support and success of military veterans. Expert staff guide students through processing GI Bill benefits, exploring internships and job placements, and promoting a smooth transition from active duty to student life through programs designed to meet the unique needs of veterans.

VETERAN SERVICES AND OPPORTUNITIES

UNC CHARLOTTE VETERANS

Kyle White

Former Army Sergeant Kyle White ‘13, who fought in Operation Enduring Freedom, received the Medal of Honor in May 2014. We caught up with Kyle outside UNC Charlotte Center City to discuss a defining battle in Afghanistan, visiting the White House, and his plans for helping veterans in the future.

Magin Day

Doctoral student and veteran Magin Day demonstrated dedication, perseverance and flexibility while in the U.S. Air Force, as both an officer and competitive athlete. Now, thanks in part to an assistantship provided by UNC Charlotte’s Graduate School, Magin is preparing for the next step in her professional career.
